Bank ends emergency lending; U.S. stays course

OTTAWA -- Canada is emerging as an oasis of calm in global credit markets that are otherwise beset by caution and doubt.The Bank of Canada said yesterday that it is ending a $2-billion emergency lending program it started at the height of the credit crunch to make liquidity available to cash-starved banks.
