Falling price of gasoline takes edge off inflation

OTTAWA -- Inflation is off the boil in Canada, with prices in October dropping more sharply on the month than at any time in the past 50 years.The consumer price index declined a full 1 per cent in October from September, the largest such drop since June, 1959, stoking fears that Canada is heading toward a dangerous deflationary spiral as quickly as the rest of the world.
