Soaring dollar may limit rate hikes

The Canadian dollar's relentless surge may limit any interest-rate increases, with one chief economist urging the Bank of Canada to hold off on boosting rates altogether to avoid “adding fuel to the fire.” The loonie's risen for nine weeks in a row, gaining 10 per cent this year. It eased a bit Tuesday but remained over the 94-cent (U.S.) mark.
