DRIPs can give you a lift in down markets

If you're the sort of investor who has trouble keeping your finger off the "sell" button when markets are plummeting, here's a suggestion: Enroll your stocks in a dividend reinvestment plan. Think of a DRIP as a forced savings program. Instead of sending you a cheque every quarter (or every month, in the case of many income trusts), the company automatically reinvests your cash in more shares.
