Tentative Toronto Star deal struck

A tentative agreement Saturday afternoon between the Toronto Star and its employees appears to have averted what would have been the newspaper's first newsroom strike in 16 years. The deal was reached at about 2 p.m. Saturday after marathon talks between the newspaper and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada, which represents 765 newsroom, circulation and advertising staff.
