Ottawa offers to help ailing GM

The federal government offered to help Ontario's ailing auto sector Wednesday by inviting General Motors of Canada Ltd. to tap into a $250-million fund to help the company build a third model at its car plant in Oshawa.
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty made the announcement one day after GM dropped the bombshell that it is closing its truck plant in Oshawa, throwing 2,600 workers out of a job.
