Of all the reasons to cheer Hillary Clinton's defeat, here's one more: She was responsible for one of the single dumbest ideas of the U.S. presidential campaign. Her “summertime gas tax holiday” had the ring of a Kmart promotion, and was about as thoughtful. America has a fuel consumption problem. The U.S., with less than one-twentieth of the world's population, still burns nearly one-quarter of its daily oil production.
