EU raids detergent companies

BRUSSELS The European Commission said Friday it had raided a number of producers of washing powder, consumer detergents, dishwasher detergent and laundry softeners between June 17 and 19.
“The Commission has reason to believe that the companies concerned may have violated EC Treaty rules .... which prohibit practices such as price fixing,” the European Union executive said in a statement.
