As BCE ruling nears, stakes have never been higher

At 4:15 p.m. EDT this afternoon a legal officer of the Supreme Court of Canada will usher an impatient group of reporters into a press room to brief them on a decision that will make or break the $35-billion takeover of BCE Inc. Like pope watchers training their eyes to the thin chimney of the Vatican's Sistine Chapel, traders and investors from Bay Street to Wall Street will be glued to their computers until 4:30 p.
