Companies plan to raise prices for consumers

OTTAWA — Almost half of Canadian companies plan to jack up prices over the next year to cover soaring costs of energy and other commodities, according to a key survey released yesterday by the Bank of Canada. A record-high 42 per cent of companies queried for the central bank's quarterly business outlook said customer price increases will pick up steam over the next 12 months.
