Companies plan to raise prices for consumers

OTTAWA Almost half of Canadian companies plan to jack up prices over the next year to cover soaring costs of energy and other commodities, according to a key survey released yesterday by the Bank of Canada.
A record-high 42 per cent of companies queried for the central bank's quarterly business outlook said customer price increases will pick up steam over the next 12 months.
