U.S., Europe, Japan pile on economic gloom

BRUSSELS — The euro zone, Japan and the United States all delivered further evidence on Wednesday of sagging corporate and household morale as the credit crunch and soaring commodity prices bite into global economic growth. Economic sentiment in the euro zone skidded in July to its lowest since March 2003, while Japanese factory output shrank in April-June for the second straight quarter.
