The price-conscious find stores not so welcoming

OTTAWA Rising prices are eroding Canadians' inclination to shop, forcing consumers to spend more on gas and food and less on many discretionary items, new figures show.
But inflation may well have already peaked this summer, giving consumers a break in the months to come, economists say.
"We're already starting to see a bit of relief in terms of gas prices," said David Wolf, chief economist at Merrill Lynch Canada.
