Farmers harvest bumper first half

Strong prices for wheat, corn, barley and canola boosted total market receipts for Canadian farmers by 12.4 per cent to a record $19.9-billion in the first half of this year compared with the corresponding period a year earlier, Statistics Canada reported Monday. Revenues for the January-to-June period stood 25.7 per cent above the previous five-year average.
