BCE buys Nortel high-speed optical gear

Nortel Networks Corp. has won a local contract for its high speed optical gear, announcing Thursday that BCE Inc.'s Bell Canada is purchasing equipment that carries Internet traffic four times faster than existing standards.
Nortel's adaptive optical engine moves data at 40 gigabits a second.
