Expect a long, costly convalescence

Dr. Hank Paulson, oncologist and chief surgeon at Holy Mother of Credit Crises Hospital in Washington, D.C., removed the twin tumours of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on Sunday morning. The patient, U.S. Economy, came through the procedure and awoke several hours later, complaining of pains in the wallet region. The prognosis? Odds of a full recovery are good. But further invasive procedures are not only possible, but likely. Expect a protracted convalescence.
