In her celebrated The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism, Ms. Klein argued that radical free-market reforms can be implemented only in the midst of crises – economic crises, natural disasters, wars – manipulated by ideological conspirators for this specific subversive purpose.
