Senate backs reworked bailout plan
WASHINGTON — The monster U.S. bank rescue has earned a second chance at life on Capitol Hill.
With the world watching, the U.S. Senate voted decisively 74-25 Wednesday night in favour of a reworked bailout that now includes tax breaks for millions of middle-income Americans and a temporary increase in the deposit insurance cap.
